Rock Country Robins 2010 WBCBL National Champs - Aug 24, 2010

This past weekend, the WBCBL Nationals were held in Miami, Florida. Twelve teams participated in the tournament. Saturday morning the first four games were played, in which Miami Rain (vs. Virginia Lady Stallions 77-68), Columbus Hidden Gems (vs. Orlando Extreme 82-70), Lauderdale Lions (vs. Kansas City Queenz 81-41), and Flint Flames (vs. Philadelphia Lady Destroyers 78-74) won and therefore improved to the top 8. Saturday afternoon and evening, the quarterfinals were played. Miami Rain faced the Atlanta BattleCats and won 77-56. The Columbus Hidden Gems lost to the Arkansas Starz with 85-96. Rock County Robins dominated in the game over the Lauderdale Lions and beat them 88-58, while the Gulf Coast Storm beat Flint Flames with 81-70. The four winners Miami Rain, Arkansas Starz, Rock County Robins, and Gulf Coast Storm improved to the semifinals, which were held on sunday. The semifinals were both two close games, where the Rock County Robins won by 5 points over the Miami Rain (65-60), while the Gulf Coast Storm improved by 2 points over the Arkansas Starz (87-85) to the final. The final championship game was played at 5pm between Rock County Robins and Gulf Coast Storm. Rock County Robins topped the Gulf Coast Storm by 4 (71-67) and are the 2010 WBCBL National Champs.
