The Lions are the 2006
Champions! Arkansas - Fort Smith started its winning path in the
2006 National Championship Tournament with the victory of the first game
over Monroe CC
73-61, followed by Georgia Perimeter67-54, Highland CC 75-71, and in the final beating
Tallahassee, FL 68-59. It’s been a though road, with tough
competitors but they made it, they are the Champions! Bruce Carter (6'4''-G) led the champions with 24 points, while
Hatila Passos (6'9''-F/C, college:
Dixie St. JC) added 17, and
Jordan Brooks (6'2''-G) 11.
For Tallahassee in a loosing effort, Archiemia Way scored 16
points. Tallahassee beat in the semifinals Iowa Western,
81-65.
Arkansas - Fort Smith, formerly known as Westark College, has a rich and
historic basketball tradition. The legacy of Lion basketball includes a
National Championship, 12 National Tournament appearances, seven 30+ win
seasons, four All-Americans, three NBA players, and over 200 athletes
who have earned basketball scholarships at four-year institutions

Today will take place the remaining games that will decide
the competitors for the Chamiponship Title or for the Consolation Prize.
There are 2 more games remaining in separating round; the 7th game
between San Jacinto (TX) (23-10) versus Tallahassee CC (28-3), and the
8th game between Howard College (TX) (32-1) versus Sheridan College (WY)
(30-4).
The Tournament will end with the Championship game on Saturday,
March 25th, 2006 at Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas.
