| NBA: Former Nba Great Dead at 44 - Aug.27, 2008 |
Former Washington Bullets center Kevin Duckworth died Monday while on a trip to the Oregon Coast to host a free basketball clinic. He was 44. The cause of death was to be determined by a medical examiner. The 7-foot Duckworth spent 11 seasons in the NBA, helping Portland reach the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. The two-time all-star also played for San Antonio, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Clippers. Read more... |

The Northeastern University basketball team secured their first win on the Canadian tour. They held off Queens University in Kingston, Ontario in the first of the seven-game schedule in Canada. The teams entered the game quite well matched and were all square at 14 after the opening stanza. However the visitors gradually took over and built a 5-point advantage at halftime. Read more... |

Former Duquesne University forward/center Kieron Achara (6'10''-F/C-83) (Stirling, Scotland/Maine Central Institute) has signed a one-year contract with a two-year option to play basketball for UPIM Bologna it was announced today. Achara joins 2007-08 Duquesne teammates Reggie Jackson (Hogansville, Ga./Southern Union College) and Shawn James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Notre Dame Prep) who have also signed contracts with overseas professional teams this summer.  | | UIC head coach Jimmy Colllins announced on Wednesday, Aug. 27 that Josh Anderson (Chicago, Ill./Simeon Career Academy) has joined the UIC men's basketball team.
Anderson, who is joining the Flames as a walk-on, is a 6-foot-3, 182-pound shooting guard who averaged 13.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a senior for Simeon last year. Read more... |

This summer Marcus Watts competed at the Eurobasket Summer League in Salt Lake City and was simply outstanding as he was the tournaments leading scorer.

D.J. Strawberry played 32 regular season games for the Suns averaging 2.2 ppg. In December 2007 he moved to D-league team Albuquerque Thunderbirds but next month the Suns called him back.  | | Former Mid-America Christian University basketball player, Joseph Brown signed a professional contract to play in Sangalhos, Potugal.
Brown came to play at MACU in 2006. As a junior point guard he averaged 17 point per game. He was a member of the 2007 NCCAA National Championship Team and was named to the all-tournament team.
